Compliance-First Culture

Regulatory & Compliance

Ocean Reefs Ltd. is built on a foundation of regulatory discipline — operating in full alignment with Ghana's maritime, fisheries, food safety, and port authorities.

Compliance Is Not Optional

In both our frozen protein trading and maritime services businesses, regulatory compliance is not a burden — it is a strategic advantage. Our deep familiarity with Ghana's regulatory landscape means our clients avoid penalties, delays, and licence revocations.

We invest continuously in staying current with regulatory developments from the Fisheries Commission, Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), and Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

Our legal consultant, James Gawuga Nkrumah Esq. (Founding Partner, GAWUGA@LAW), and our Safety, Health & Security Consultant, Emmanuel Damoah Nyarkoh, ensure our operations remain ahead of regulatory requirements at all times.

Authorities We Work With

Fisheries Commission
Government of Ghana

The Fisheries Commission regulates all fishing activities in Ghana's waters, including the licensing and monitoring of foreign fishing vessels. Ocean Reefs works closely with the Commission to secure and renew foreign fishing licences on behalf of clients, and to ensure all fish products entering the supply chain meet regulatory standards.

Foreign Vessel Licensing Licence Renewal Stock Compliance
Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA)
Government of Ghana

The GMA is responsible for vessel registration, seafarer certification, and maritime safety in Ghana. Our maritime services team facilitates vessel documentation, crew certification, and compliance with GMA standards — ensuring vessels operate safely and legally in Ghanaian waters.

Vessel Documentation Crew Certification Safety Standards
Ghana Standards Authority (GSA)
Government of Ghana

The GSA establishes and enforces national standards for goods and services, including food safety, product labelling, and cold storage requirements. All Ocean Reefs frozen protein products are sourced, stored, and handled in line with GSA standards to protect consumer health and maintain marketability.

Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority (GPHA)
Government of Ghana

The GPHA manages all port operations in Ghana, including the Tema Port through which a significant volume of Ghana's maritime trade moves. Ocean Reefs facilitates vessel clearance, port entry procedures, and coordination with GPHA on behalf of vessel owners and operators.

Stay Ahead of Regulation

Ghana's maritime regulatory environment evolves continuously. New licensing requirements, crew certification standards, and port protocols can catch unprepared vessel operators off guard — resulting in costly delays, penalties, or loss of operating rights.

Our Maritime Compliance Advisory service provides proactive guidance, regulatory monitoring, and a direct line to Ocean Reefs' regulatory expertise — so your operations remain compliant at all times.
